Benefits of Sexual Abstinence, Moderation and Tantric Joy

Celibacy Benefits, Nutrition and Transmutation -- Steps Toward Ecstasy and Enlightenment
The benefits of celibacy (sexual abstinence) are obviously not widely understood nor fully appreciated. With all the erotic opportunities, sensual photos, sex oriented e-mails, and other media of the sort flashing over the internet, there seems to be a universal obsession with trying to use up as much sexual energy as soon as possible and as often as possible. It seems that everyone thinks we should all have an endless potpourri of sexual encounters and if not, plenty of pharmaceutical, natural remedies and pheromones to fix any lacks! Forget about unconditional love, wholesome affection, and sincere commitment, these ads seem to encourage a prodigious expenditure of only the most physical, basic urges while making one think that the size of that one part of the male anatomy is all that matters! What a hoax!
Even though sex may be a natural, essential part of life, so is being stuck in a physical body along with all its severe restrictions, miseries and complications lifetime after lifetime. Christians should especially be aware of this fact. For what reason was Adam and Eve cast out of the Garden of Eden in the first place? And humankind has ever since paid the terrible price of their "sin" by continuing with the sex act in the same old manner.
By "celibacy" I never mean exclusion of affectionate relationships with the opposite sex nor the permanent elimination of one's natural sensuality. This is rather a change in the direction of sex and sensuality, not its repression. I strongly encourage a strong emphasis on love, ecstasy (expanded or transmuted sensuality), and lasting commitment which actually becomes quite natural and rewarding when all nerve-draining conventional orgasms are avoided and replaced with uplifting, blissful methods of transmutation into deep, all fulfilling and everlasting excitement and love. Isn't it far better to always be "coming" than going anyway?
Even the majority of spiritual books I have read most recently don't seem to touch on the virtues, values and benefits of celibacy, completely ignoring it almost as if everyone is somehow miraculously capable of achieving great heights of spiritual awareness, perfect love, perfect relationships, bliss, inner joy and concentration, etc. without any sort of reduction in the loss of vital sexual fluids nor any help from advanced nutrition. How can anyone expect to make real and lasting spiritual progress under these conditions? In a similar sense, how in the world can one expect to get more and more power from a constantly drained battery?
In spite of the massive lack of popularity and understanding regarding celibacy, there is an obvious benefit to abstaining from sex for long periods of time that very few seem to understand or appreciate. Stored sexual energy properly transmuted gives one a definite psychological boost such as a greater sense of purpose, better memory, concentration, and more interest in doing what is needed or required while giving one a feeling of reward in accomplishment. One tends to look forward to getting things done in a creative way while enjoying much greater motivation, bliss, joy, resilience, determination, and love for one's duty.
As long as one prevents one's creative energy from getting diffused or drained into the endless quagmire of lust, it remains easier for the accomplishment of one's goals, and the expression of higher values such as unconditional love and affection, morality, purity, and spiritual marriage, to remain the main focus of one's life. Obviously, if it weren't so easy (unfortunate) to keep falling into this quagmire, there would be far wider acceptance and knowledge of the obvious ecological, economic, social, physical and mental health benefits of celibacy.
Much of one's basic vitality and nerve force is stored as sexual energy. One's vital emotional health energy and sexual energy are interdependent. Therefore, whenever one's sexual energy is used up, a large part of one's mental energy and healing physical vitality get lost, and fascinatingly enough, one cannot successfully or correctly increase one's sexual energy without the side effect of improving one's health! Even dreams tend to be more frequent, blissful, colorful and more spiritual, and the possibility of achieving astral projection, deep samadhi and cosmic consciousness in meditation is also greatly improved.
Celibacy & Transmutation of Sexual Energy
Just as humankind has learned to master and control many natural forces in the world, a yogi (or yogini) is a very special (and unfortunately rare) individual who's inclination is to control and master the inner forces of nature, such as thoughts, emotions, cravings, and desires, especially the biological force of sexual energy. The yogi or yogini manages to successfully master his or her emotions and sexual energy not by force, but through purification of brain and body cells and then by absorption of vital prana. The transmutation of sex into inner peace, bliss, joy and love is the wonderful end result. One of the greatest mysteries of life is sex, sexual desire, and sexual energy. However, when sexual energy is lost in the process of reproductive activity, the spiritual life suffers. This Kindle ebook is now available on Amazon through the following link: Celibacy & Transmutation of Sexual Energy
Whenever sexual (vital) fluids are lost (especially if too often) one's spiritual inspiration and enthusiasm for living, if any, tends to mysteriously fade into the background. One can't meditate as deeply or feel as excited about the benefits of higher consciousness, or even feel the same joy or enthusiasm for life, yoga, and meditation as one did before the loss of sexual energy during one's previous period of abstinence. Sex is a natural addiction that one easily gets stuck in over and over again. This effect is part of nature's plan or intent at fooling all of us into giving away a lifetime of subtle, spiritual joy, progress and accomplishment for a few moments of concentrated pleasure. When that excitement is over and completely used up, reality sets in, enthusiasm drains out, and one is left basically with nothing but a sense of regret. A mild laziness, lackluster, or tiredness takes over, while everything else in life immediately becomes boring or even depressing compared to the intense excitement once had. One may even start to feel a lot older than one did just five minutes ago! The diminishing effects of sex may not always be noticed, but the overall effect is still quite real to one extent or another and according to the degree of one's spiritual development and sensitivity. In other words, sex (especially if too much) can short circuit one's enthusiasm to stride life's challenges! This unfortunate fact of life seems to get even worse as one gets older especially if one forgets to take proper care of one's health. As time marches on, time also seems to wear one down.
However, while abstaining, as time marches on, one feels like time is building one up!
Even though sex is a perfectly natural and essential part of life, it has another, much more sinister purpose besides the creation of emotional addiction to the most beautiful or handsome members of the opposite sex and the creation of new physical lives: it also has the deliberate effect of keeping one rather fickle and spiritually grounded often with an overwhelming tendency to want to leave the relationship in search of other partners! This is the game that nature plays to spread one's genes around to as many different mates as possible while intensifying the process of competition and natural selection (evolution) through increased greed and anger. After all, how many mates does the average person have in a lifetime? Conventional sex causes serious changes in one's brain chemistry often leaving one more irritable, angry, spiritually dead, separated from wholeness, closed minded, attached, addicted, and competitive all for the purpose of increasing one's tendency to fight others or compete with others for food, mates, shelters, etc. as part of the means of speeding up the evolutionary process.
As previously mentioned, one function of regular sex is to keep the soul grounded, anchored or stuck in place so that it cannot escape or leave body-consciousness at will as the more advanced adepts at yoga can do. However, once one is fully established on the path of celibacy, transmutation and regular deep meditation, one eventually achieves complete, permanent freedom from all the suffering and limitations of the physical body and after death, freedom from the need to reincarnate into yet another physical body. In very advanced stages, a complete mastery over life, breath, and death is possible, and that one can enjoy not only blissful freedom from a physical body, but also fantastic physical health, indefinite cellular regeneration, and absolute memory recall of every moment in this lifetime and all past lifetimes.
Innocent children are naturally happy and this is because their life force energy has not yet been disrupted by the sheer blast of hormones that bring about all those strong sexual attachments and feelings suffered and enjoyed by young adults. They are naturally celibate, and therefore tend to be much more carefree, energetic, and much more resilient to stress than adults tend to be.
The popular practice of what some may call "tantra" could be for most people the best way toward holistic celibacy and enlightenment. It is in itself a very precarious balance between celibacy and non-celibacy requiring absolute self-control, however, since most people are in relationships tantra yoga is really the best way to conserve sexual fluid without having to give up sexual relations. It requires constant and careful management of very strong kundalini forces. How able are you at conserving sexual fluids and transforming basic sexual desires into pranic and kundalini energy? The key is one's level of purity or inner freedom from toxins, excellent circulation, water fasting, experience at transmutation and amount of prana taken in from natural sources such as gardens, parks, forests, and other open spaces, etc. The degree to which one conserves sexual energy, expands one's pranic sheaf, experiences, gives and receives pure (selfless) love, devotion and affection is the degree to which one becomes quite spiritual.
Complete or total enlightenment (everlasting joy) requires a long period of retainment of sexual fluid along with hours of daily meditation in a natural environment filled with pranic (orgone) energy. One's precious attainment of enlightenment (if any) will remain only as such for as long as one retains one's sexual fluids. This is the way nature intended it according to universal natural law (or God's law or plan if you want to call it that). It is cause and effect: the effect of enlightenment requires the cause: retention, cultivation and transmutation of sexual energy.
Along with many other requirements, celibacy (perfectly transmuted) is the main requirement for true enlightenment and true wholeness. There must be an enormous amount of transmuted sexual energy (refined desire) built up in one's self to create the effect of enlightenment. Similar to what I've said before: one cannot get light from a drained battery. Hope I make myself clear, because this entire principle is the philosopher's stone, Holy Grail or the way back to the Garden of Eden or whatever you like to call it.
A LIFE OF BLISSFUL TRANSMUTATION INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING PRACTICES:
Here is a long list of ideas that could be used to strengthen one's ability to transmute, while creating, cultivating and benefiting from much higher levels of sexual energy (bliss) without losing it.
# Purify your blood by fasting all day on ionized water. Fasting everyday on ionized water is incredibly easy to do, because the water is so alkaline, that the sense of hunger and digestive fluids are neutralized while providing cleansing, transmuting, and energizing effects. When you do eat, have as much raw food as possible. Include with meals: as many antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and beneficial herbal supplements as possible. For more information on diet and transmutation go here.
The latest info on diet can be found here.
# Remove all blockages from circulatory system using oral chelation therapy combined with an herbal circulation enhancer containing ginkgo biloba, prickly ash berry, butcher's broom, hawthorn, horse chestnut extract, niacin, etc. Also exercise on a regular basis. Jumprope is ideal for improving circulation, and building up strength without having to go to the gym. For more about the above two subjects, go here.
# Meditate! Learn how to focus your mind very carefully to the exclusion of all other thoughts. Imagine your sexual energy flowing up your spine like a white stream of light flowing up to a ball of white light above your head. Learn how to concentrate in your third eye or above your head, especially if you feel sensual. By redirecting the energy this way you learn control. The most powerful ecstatic effects result from concentrating in the third eye and crown chakra for two or more hours. Learn more about meditation and just how significant it is here.
# Learn how to sublimate basic urges into a higher expression and fulfillment through new channels and new avenues of expression such as meditation, bliss, vitality, enthusiasm, inspiration, love, compassion, recreation, and selfless service. Learn about ojas and how it is created and how to build it up. Learn how to expand unfulfilled sexual energy into all-fulfilling bliss throughout every cell of the body through carefully following the Science of Wholeness lifestyle. For regular daily deep meditation on the inner sounds and third eye to be successful, one needs the sexual energy (which is the same as vital nerve force energy). Transmutation is in turn dependent on meditation, wholeness, etc.
# Understand the anatomy of physical control! Train your muscles to "switch" on and off the flow of urine. Learn how this same ability can always be used to prevent the loss of sexual (vital) fluids either at the start of a wet dream or during periods of too much excitement. Just being able to do this could have priceless benefits and give one more options in a relationship. This may be one of the most vital tools for being able to remain celibate under otherwise impossible situations. Learn more about physical self-control here.
# Energize your chakras! Fire up the kundalini using a special form of breathing exercise that I call the "Lama Yoga" breaths. The kundalini is the very transforming flame of raw sexual energy. When one feels the need to transmute one would do twelve to twenty to thirty of these at a time depending on individual need and capacity in conjunction with the meditation and vibration creating the all-important effect of expansive bliss and vitality. Energizing the chakras with the breathing exercises requires excellent physical and cardiovascular health. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Learn more about the "Lama Yoga" breaths here.
# Use vibration to relax your body while meditating or doing deep relaxation. Vibrating mattresses are available commercially or you can build your own units from fan motors. Common sense and other precautions must be carefully followed of course. You are training the body to find new avenues of sexual tension, release and expression with kundalini energy in such a way that no significant amount of sexual fluids are lost. Learn more about transmuting with vibration here.
# Keep your body clean! Shower and/or bathe everyday. The body constantly needs to shed millions of skin cells. Clogged pores seem to block energy and/or create general discomfort in such a way that transmutation is slowed down.
# Go for long walks in nature while pondering God's endless beauty and profound possibilities of infinite love and joy. Learn how the joy of sex or enjoyment of the objects of sex can be expanded (universalized) or channeled into infinite, everlasting fulfillment and compare that infinite expansion of pleasure to how terribly limiting conventional expressions of sex can be. Remember that in reality you are a spiritual being fully immersed in the perfect joy of Brahman. The infinity of the sky, the bio-plasma in the air, plants, trees, forests, waterfalls, natural beauty, etc. all lead to the most perfect, spiritually uplifting states of transmutation ever.
# Finding ways to build up sexual energy through nutritional supplements is a solid part of the foundation of wholeness, yet taking substances just to stimulate sexual activity is not. Herbs that strengthen and build up one's sexual reserves and potency can lead to having more sexual energy to work with and transmute. The "aphrodisiacs" (adaptogenic herbs) most well-known for providing nourishment, better blood circulation, and better overall sexual rejuvenation and functioning are highly recommended by Science of Wholeness. This may seem at first a startling contradiction, but the rejuvenating herbs (rather than the more stimulating kind) and antioxidants are extremely good for creating much more abundant and plentiful sexual energy, greater self-control, and surprisingly even much easier and expansive transmutation resulting in more bliss, more energy, more excitement, more joy, more vitality and much more of that spiritual (kundalini) energy awakening essential for transmutation.
For those going through their 50's, 60's and 70's, and beyond, taking herbs for sexual rejuvenation (again NOT for stimulation but to increase the availability of sexual energy and increase the production of sexual fluids for spiritual purposes) is even more essential. Remember also that I said earlier that it is impossible to successfully correct sexual inadequacies without improving one's health. Having lots of sexual energy and having plenty of health, enthusiasm, and vitality are almost one and the same. As one ages, it becomes far easier to have longer and longer periods of celibacy. Great? Not necessarily if it is because of diminished sexual energy! If there is nothing to power the forces of bliss, meditation, kundalini and spiritual awareness, how is it then going to happen?
Sexual rejuvenating and circulation enhancement herbs include: rhodiola rosa, reishi mushroom, epimedium, green oats (avena sativa), saw palmetto (for men), dong quai (for women), ashwaganda, gotu kola, ginseng, damiana, maca, muira puama, black cohosh (for women), ceyenne pepper (circulation, capillaries), schisandra berries, kapi kacchu, bala, ginkgo leaf, and tribulus terrestris. By the way, a side effect of some of these herbs is in fact a gradual increase in the size of that certain part of the male anatomy along with a tendency toward greater muscular mass and physical strength, but the spiritual benefits are far more important. The latest info on adaptogenic herbs and other supplements for greater wholeness can be found here.
Some sexual rejuvenating foods and supplements include: pumpkin seed, beta sitosterol complex, saw palmetto, (mainly for men), rhodiola rosa, bee pollen, chlorella, raw oats, oat straw (avena sativa), flax seed oil, fresh whole raw pasture grazed butter, l-arginine, Co Q10, vitamin E, zinc, Microhydrin, chlorella, and Shilajit. Whatever is done to improve circulation such as taking oral chelation, any herbs that improve circulation (ginger, cayenne, butcher's broom, horse chestnut, prickly ash berry, hawthorn, and food supplements such as nattokinase or the soy bean ferment, natto), all help in their own unique way to conserve, cultivate and transmute sexual energy. Of course all precautions, etc. regarding food supplements, herbs, and vitamins must be followed.
ALL INFORMATION REGARDING HEALTH AND FOOD SUPPLEMENTS IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY
There are three states of sexual fluid:
1. Unreleased sexual fluid which can build up to very high levels of frustration if not released or properly transmuted through purification and vitalization of body cells.
2. Released sexual fluid which, of course is useless.
3. Unreleased sexual fluid on fire with the kundalini energy -- the most beneficial, joyful, useful, invigorating, ecstatic, enlightening, powerful, and all-fulfilling kind.
The idea is through raw food, antioxidants, herbal supplements, increased circulation, meditation & careful concentration, breathing exercises, regular showering/bathing, vibration and/or kundalini flow (electricity), and non-stimulation, etc. one ignites the precious sexual fluid in such a way that it is never consumed (rather like Moses' "burning bush") resulting in a gradual buildup of ecstasy that can lead one to endless days of ever increasing joy and love never before experienced.
Healthy sexual energy when properly transmuted can be an awesome pleasure, and a wonderful experience of incredible, everlasting sexual power and functioning. Liberation from the physical body can be attained this way, and finally one's real spiritual goals of self-realization and God-realization reached. Transmutation is the way to true manhood as an expression of the Lord of the Universe or true womanhood as an expression of the Divine Mother.
The effects of celibacy should be directed through daily 2-3 hour meditations (See STEPPING STONE #7) away from the body toward an everlasting freedom from physical consciousness to the point where actual soul travel can be achieved. It becomes possible to go far beyond the need for orgasm into absolutely thrilling levels of superior inner soul pleasure, bliss, joy, freedom and then love. Even while you are working, you get to enjoy more pleasure, and a greater sense of lightness. But never forget, the conditions all have to be perfect to be able to do this.
Forced celibacy on its own without any of the required conditions for transmutation can be frustrating. Be aware of the hazards and symptoms of not transmuting. It can become very frustrating if you try to be celibate without taking the time to apply all the aspects of transmutation and/or wholeness!
Symptoms of NOT transmuting as a result of just being celibate while NOT following any of the other "Science of Wholeness" lifestyle requirements is the same as NOT having wholeness. Also some of these symptoms can occur when just starting out and the nervous system has not yet fully adjusted to living with so much more sexual energy:
# One may start getting angry, impatient, and abusive toward one's self and others and/or find things in general more and more frustrating.
# One may overeat, become obese and/or develop other bad habits in place of sex.
# One may develop a self-esteem crisis or lack of self love/acceptance.
# Strong sexual feelings constantly disrupt even the simplest of tasks or thoughts.
# One may feel unresolved conflicts between spiritual and physical desires.
# One may find oneself overly obsessed with anything to do with the opposite sex.
# Much physical tension, urges, frustrations, and other discomforts may start to drive one crazy.
# One may experience a large number of sensual and/or wet dreams.
Instead of simply releasing the tension, one REALLY needs to become super healthy, conserve sexual fluids and then TRANSMUTE! The whole idea here is to liberate and unclog the energy fields and blood circulation and keep one's entire being unblocked, light and expansive. Especially when young, excess sexual energy may still have to be released occasionally until one's nervous system can completely adjust or accustom itself to the new load of sexual energy and/or completely master all aspects of wholeness including pure lifestyle, water fasting, devotion, excellent digestion, acidophilus, etc. Age, wisdom, complete self-knowledge, understanding, will power, self-control and maturity are all required for long periods of uninterrupted, perfect retention of sexual fluid.
Symptoms of loss of sexual fluid from a lifestyle of regular conventional orgasms include the following:
# Right after sex, one may suddenly feel somewhat weak, tired, drained, wasted, bored and/or much, much older.
# One may feel a loss of focus and concentration in meditation or on one's work.
# One may experience a constant lack of spiritual progress and frustration over hitting some upper limit in one's meditation that is never passed, even after years of practice.
# One may experience a lack of enthusiasm and excitement in general... especially during the practice of yoga and meditation.
# Going into samadhi may become difficult and even if achieved not very long lasting and enjoyable.
# Nerves may overheat, kundalini energy may become bothersome instead of thrilling and blissful.
# One may become easily bored with spiritual subjects and feel rather stuck in the body or depressed about one's situation in life.
# Even the simplest of tasks could be harder to concentrate on and/or a meaningless punishment instead of an inspiring duty.
# Many projects may be harder to complete causing one to be more flaky, fickle, and unreliable.
# One may tend to forget one's higher purpose and natural sense of duty and fail to carry it through.
# One may encounter much less enthusiasm or courage to face a stressful or challenging situation.
# One may feel a lack of competitiveness, commitment, strength, resilience, gusto and zest.
# One may find one's self "missing something" or sense emptiness inside along with a feeling of loss or regret.
# One may try to fill in the void (or gaps between orgasms) with drugs, alcohol, overeating, or other addictive or compulsive activity.
# If alone, one may feel a lack of love or feel very unloved and suffer from a strong, addictive urge for companionship and love from a member of the opposite sex.
# If in a relationship, there is the strong tendency to become codependent and/or to expect more giving from the other person.
# Strong emotional dependency on or attachment to others.
# One's marriage or relationship may go through a period of withdrawal or disinterest until the sexual energy builds up again.
# In some cases, one may even start to look for another partner and/or suddenly feel very bored or even impatient with one's present mate.
It may take as long as two to three weeks to recover from a period of sexual overindulgence resulting in loss of sexual fluids. However, the Science of Wholeness diet, herbs, antioxidants, pure lifestyle, etc. is the best and fastest way I know of to recover from loss of sexual fluids or lack of sexual energy. Of course, there are many variables and exceptions to the above. For example, the more naturally prone to depression, anxiety, etc. the more likely and easily one could be adversely affected. And then on the other hand, I am sure there are always going to be some lucky, young and vital individuals who can enjoy a lot of conventional sex and yet hardly notice anything. There is always bound to be some contrary evidence and I have found some myself, but all in all, the conservation and transmutation of sexual energy seems to create the most reliable, and long term benefits and is the safest, most sure bet for those who are serious about achieving real, lasting spiritual progress, success and benefit.
The symptoms of having gone through several weeks of successful abstinence and transmutation while using the principles of the "wholeness" lifestyle are as follows:
# Increasing bliss, day after day!
# One's body feels lighter and lighter, and charged full of blissful energy!
# To one's astonishment, one discovers one can get by with less and less food yet enjoy more energy, strength and bliss.
# Addictions to food, love, relationships, drugs, etc. seem to drop away and are replaced by a sense of self-control and easier decision making.
# One becomes more and more "breathless" and all the highest states of samadhi obtainable.
# Nerves may feel great, while kundalini energy becomes thrilling and blissful.
# One becomes less sensitive or concerned about heat and cold, hunger, or other outside conditions.
# Ever deeper meditations, much more focused, clear thinking, deeper and deeper serenity and joy!
# One may experience an increase in enthusiasm and excitement in general... especially regarding the practice of yoga and meditation.
# Going into samadhi becomes easily achieved, very long lasting and enjoyable.
# One's daily tasks become more and more easy and exciting to fulfill and sensed as an inspiring duty.
# Many projects become easier and easier to complete, one seems to become more and more together, intent, and reliable every day.
# One may feel a daily increase in a sense of competitiveness, commitment, energy, strength, resilience, gusto and zest.
# One finds one's self deeply fulfilled, full of ever increasing joy along with a feeling of prosperity, success and contentment.
# One naturally becomes inspired by spiritual ideals and becomes ever more free from ego, attachment to the body, and ever more transcendent to one's situation in life.
# Most amazing of all, there is an ongoing accumulation of bliss (ojas) that lifts one up to ever deeper and deeper levels of ecstasy and fulfillment. One easily progresses through ever higher spiritual states of inner joy, peace and finally enlightenment!
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS: This article is about finding REAL sexual wholeness! You can now live in bliss during work, sleep, and recreation. It is now possible to "fly your kite" (your spirit!) whenever you wish, as high as you could ever dream for as long as you would like. All the conditions of the "Science of Wholeness" lifestyle must be met, and you must change the way you have and think of sex, while inspiring yourself with the goal of transmutation, liberation and total freedom. All your desires, consciousness, etc. must be redirected inward toward God or Spirit and away from the body, material senses, ego, mind, etc.
What you do to transmute is what you do to find wholeness and whatever you do to find wholeness is what you need for transmutation.

Demythologizing Celibacy: Practical Wisdom from Christian and Buddhist Monasticism by William Skudlarek - Editorial Review - He expands the terrain to benefit from the lived tradition of celibacy in centuries-old Buddhist monasticism. A major contribution is the encouraging of an awareness of the importance for healthy celibate living of paying attention to one's thought world and not just to the control of behavior." -- Rt. Rev. Abbot Jerome Kodell, OSB, Subiaco Abbey, Subiaco, Arizona
Product Description - In light of the Christian understanding of marriage as an authentic--indeed, the ordinary--path to holiness, Skudlarek proposes a demythologized view of celibacy, presenting it as an alternate and equally valid spiritual practice for those who choose not to accept the demands of a committed sexual relationship. Drawing on the monastic interreligious dialogue, Skudlarek considers the Buddhist view of celibacy, their regard for it as simply--and profoundly--a path to freedom, peace, and happiness. As Christians become aware of the benefits of celibacy for monks who observe it without reference to the Gospel, they may be able to appreciate all the more its importance and value for those who wish to follow Christ as celibates, and in this way come to share in the freedom of the children of God.

Women, Passion & Celibacy by Sally Cline - Editorial Reviews - From Library Journal - Writing 20 years ago in The Total Woman , Marabel Morgan advocated that wives meet their husbands at the door draped in cellophane wrap, drink in hand. Morgan stands in stark contrast to Cline ( Just Desserts: Women and Food , Trafalgar, 1990), who counters that sex and coupledom no longer represent the yardstick by which women gauge their self-worth. Her battle cry is for passionate celibacy--a move of conscious choice away from the sexual and material roles imposed upon women. Celibacy is an issue of preference rather than an accident or something imposed by the "genital mythmakers" (read: dominant male society). Cline is remarkably dogmatic in her criticism of authoritative male culture. Yet her points are well taken as to the passion, productivity, and solitude of spirit that can be the fruits of such a decision. An extensive bibliography and good footnotes provide a solid foundation for this work. Cline contributes new information and insights for feminist, religious, and historical scholarship. --Sandra Collins, SLIS, Univ. of Pittsburgh

From Booklist - Cline's interviews with women in Great Britain and North America reveal a variety of motivations for celibacy. She disputes the view that intimate interpersonal relations are the primary source of happiness, and she examines new, celibate styles of independence and the ways in which they change relations between men and women and contribute to women's creative enterprises and spiritual growth. "Passionate celibacy," she concludes, "is a form of female sexuality . . . which allows women to define themselves autonomously. .ō20.ō20. It is a form of sexual practice without the power struggles of a sexually active relationship." A good addition for women's issues collections. --Whitney Scott

A History of Celibacy : From Athena to Elizabeth I, Leornardo Da Vinci, Florence Nightingale, Gandhi and Cher by Elizabeth Abbott - Editorial Review - "And you thought celibacy could only be dull, unimpassioned stuff. Elizabeth Abbott has written the definitive history of a subject most of us want nothing to do with, and it's a fascinating, lively and moving tome indeed ... Abbott takes us into the lives of celibates, both willing and forced, noble and deluded, throughout history and across continent and cultures. A stimulating book." McGill News "A juicy insightful survey, as readable as it is intellectually sophisticated, alternately witty and moving. Abbott documents a thousand shades of motive for saying no to sex. She manages to describe extreme behavior without sinking into either anachronistic psychologizing or valueless relativism. It's a remarkably effective approach to a topic that might easily inspire jokes or judgement." Village Voice Literary Supplement "Celibacy seems an odd topic for a witty and compelling book, but Elizabeth Abbott manages to make her subject fascinating." Bookpage.com "A History of Celibacy explores the full length of that fascinating shadow, tracing the history of self-containment from the mythical virgins of the Greeks and Romans to a new celibacy in the age of AIDS, with stops along the way to examine such strange fauna as Leonardo da Vinci and Mahatma Gandhi, John Ruskin and Joan of Arc." Elle "Based on a great deal of knowledge but told with grace, wit and a wry sense of the conditions under which women live. Abbott seems to have read just about everything ever written on her chosen subject. This is a bulky book but not difficult to read and its pleasures are many. Elizabeth Abbott appends an astute select bibliography that runs to 22 pages, providing a further reason for buying her book." The Globe and Mail (Canada) "Elegantly chronicles expressions of celibacy through the ages." Elm Street (Canada) "A History of Celibacy is a fresh take on the history of sex which is perhaps why this juicy tome was a surprise best seller in Canada." Entertainment Weekly "Ambitious and wide-ranging ... she make a convincing case that throughout much of history celibacy, was an attractive option for women." --The New Yorker
Product Description - Joan of Arc was one. So was Sir Isaac Newton. A monk vows to be one. A prisoner has no choice. History tells of many avowed celibates, and today's society reflects a renewed interest in celibacy. But what causes people to give up sex, the very activity that drives, fascinates, troubles, and delights so many of the rest of us? Elizabeth Abbott's exploration of celibacy debunks the traditionally held notion that celibacy is a predominantly religious concept of little concern to the secular world. Chosen or imposed for myriad reasons, celibacy actually is a practice that reveals a host of telling insights about our sexual desires and drives, as well as our changing attitudes toward religion, gender, and physical health. "A History of Celibacy" humanises celibacy through the ages, from the vestal virgins of ancient Rome who were entombed alive if they broke their vows, to contemporary athletes who 'conserve semen' to enhance their game. While most people associate institutional celibacy with Catholicism, Abbott shows how virtually every culture and religion through history has incorporated it in some form. Her examples range from Judaism's rules regarding abstinence during menstruation to Hinduism's forced celibacy for widows. Written from a feminist perspective, the book paints a dual portrait of celibacy as both emancipator and enslaver of women and the poor. Yet the book's focus is not solely on women. It recounts for instance the forced castration of Italy's young male sopranos, and tells why impoverished Chinese boys and men became eunuchs for the Emperor. The extremes to which people will go to abstain from sexual activity or to prevent others from having sex is an intriguing thread through a serious book.

The Cult of the Born-Again Virgin: The New Sexual Revolution by Wendy Keller - Editorial Reviews - From Publishers Weekly - The concept is not a new one: Eve practiced celibacy until the snake tempted her into trading the Garden of Eden for sexual delights; Queen Elizabeth I held on to her virginity as if her kingdom depended on it. All well and good in more repressed times, but is celibacy a reasonable lifestyle choice for women of the sexually liberated 21st century? It may seem like a hard sell, but Keller, a former newspaper and magazine journalist, offers compelling reasons for women to take a break from sexual relations. Calling upon her own experiences and those of women across the country who have not found contentment or joy in their relationships, she details how both short-term and permanent abstinence commonly lead to new confidence and self-esteem. Contending that "tak[ing] sex off one's activity list and put[ting] it on the list of what is revered" enhances one's sense of personal power, control over one's sexuality and the ability to focus on goals (including attracting a better mate)--and also allows more time for nurturing oneself, developing one's spirituality and improving one's health and finances--Keller may overstate the potential benefits. Still, most people experience times when concentrating on these areas while putting sex aside would be a smart move. Although becoming a BAV may not appeal to most women at first, reading this apparently radical but well-argued book may spur many to rethink their initial response. (Feb.) Product Description - This groundbreaking book recounts a phenomenon that is sweeping the nation among single women: choosing abstinence or celibacy. The reasons for this choice varies from woman to woman--from abandoning the treadmill of dating and relationships, to focusing on a career or lifelong dream, to returning to core values, to exploring spirituality more deeply, to achieving a sense of inner balance. Whatever the reason, the choice inevitably results in her taking better care of herself and reclaiming her innate personal power.
The author interviewed a number of single women, all under the age of forty-five, attractive and intelligent, and, for the most part, highly educated and particularly successful in their individual careers. Instead of expressing bitterness, loneliness or despair, these "Born-Again Virgins" (as the author has termed them) embody and exude personal power, confidence, fulfillment, contentment and joy. While this book is not about not having sex, it is about showing readers that they have the right to choose whether or not to have sex, that they have the right to choose to abstain for a day, a week, a month, a year or a lifetime--and that they are not alone in exercising this right.
This book will show readers why becoming "Born-Again Virgins" is the right choice for so many single women. Whether they initially choose abstinence in response to STDs and AIDS or to the low value often placed on marriage and monogamy, as a result of the choice, these women find themselves healing the residual pain of past issues and discovering what brings them true fulfillment and inner peace.
The Cult of the Born-Again Virgin will provide countless readers with the support and encouragement to make a life-affirming choice that will permanently transform their lives and themselves--for the better. Through firsthand accounts of real-life "Born-Again Virgins," readers will learn the events that acted as catalysts for choosing abstinence, the repercussions of the choice, the effects on self-esteem, various ways to actually deal with abstinence or celibacy on a daily basis, the effects on relationships and how to handle resuming sexual activity.
This candid, intimate, sometimes funny, sometimes poignant book will teach all readers how to reclaim their souls by reclaiming their bodies. It is a book for all single-women readers and it will become a treasured source of validation, support, encouragement and comfort to them along their journeys of self-awareness, discovery and transformation.
Peace Between the Sheets: Healing with Sexual Relationships by Marnia Robinson - Editorial Reviews - "I experienced one 'Aha' after another as I read Peace Between the Sheets. Marnia Robinson's book is entertaining, enlightening, and timely. The hypothesis that orgasm fosters separation fascinated me both personally and professionally. The Ecstatic Exchanges would seem to benefit most relationships, and be particularly helpful for those recovering from sexual addiction and the trauma of sexual abuse."
--A.J. Reid Finlayson, M.D., Division of Addiction Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
"As a matchmaker who runs several dating agencies I only wish I could make Peace Between the Sheets compulsory reading for all people seeking a new relationship." --Mary Balfour, author of Smart Dating
Product Description - Based on the author's twelve-year inquiry into why relationships fail, Peace Between the Sheets offers a simple but revolutionary analysis: modern relationships often founder because of dysfunctional sexual habits. But when couples shift away from "heat-centered" toward "heart-centered" sexual interactions, they gain a mutual satisfaction that transcends physical gratification. Robinson advocates teaching the body a different response to sexual arousal that is driven by love over biology. The benefits include reducing stress, rejuvenating the body, helping overcome addictions, and developing a positive outlook. Over two parts, "Why" and "How," the book devotes twelve chapters to topics like "Why do We Fall Out of Love?," "Outwitting Biology," "Want to Try It?," and "The Ecstatic Exchanges." Peace Between the Sheets tackles a delicate issue with sound reasoning, solid research, and a healthy dose of humor.
Peace Between the Sheets: Sexual Relationships That Heal by Liz Estrata - Product Description - This book is about relationships, sexuality and healing. It explains how our current sexual habits split couples apart by creating disharmony or stagnation. It contains a step-by-step program for avoiding this problem by learning to make love differently.
Transcendent Sex: When Lovemaking Opens the Veil by Jenny Wade - Editorial Reviews - From Publishers Weekly - Claiming that lovemaking can be a path to soulful realization, developmental psychologist Wade explores "one of the best-kept secrets in human history" in this study of ordinary people's spontaneous spiritual awakenings through transcendent sex. Drawing heavily from the well-articulated, first-hand accounts of nearly 100 respondents (specifically chosen for their lack of any spiritual framework or ideology to explain the episodes), the author repeatedly offers historical, religious and cultural traditions as a background, and context for readers' understanding of her arguments. Though not a how-to book per se, Wade's volume broaches the myriad shapes mystical sex may take, including animal possession, time travel, out-of-body experiences, past life regression and even enlightenment, and it provides warnings on the down side of altered state sex (dangerous liaisons and overwhelming intimacy) and suggestions for facilitating transcendent sex. Despite the fact most of those interviewed had only a one-time experience, the long-term effects on their lives often proved profound and healing. Wade's unique subject matter, and her openness with the research data, should make this a welcome addition to the spirituality/self-help genre. Will Our Love Last?: A Couple's Road Map by Sam R. Hamburg and Sam R. Hamburg PH.D. - Editorial Reviews - From Publishers Weekly - Quietly disputing the "men are from Mars" theory, psychologist Hamburg argues that the key to a satisfying marriage lies in choosing the right partner based on compatibility in three areas: on a practical level, sexually and in "wavelength." His thoughtful explanation of why he believes mutual understanding is more important in marriage than communication or hard work is illustrated with examples from his own practice and peppered with questions aimed at helping readers assess their compatibility with their partners. Among the practical considerations he discusses are attitudes about earning and spending money, maintaining a household, managing leisure time and dealing with family members. The section on sexuality surveys sexual style, interest and comfort level, while the "wavelength dimension" covers values, aspirations and spiritual orientation. Hamburg does not suggest that each person find a clone; he simply emphasizes the importance of assessing the ways in which a potential partner conforms with or differs from oneself. While his notion of "optimizing" a relationship has a slightly academic ring, he also recommends some offbeat exercises, such as a series of hand-rotations designed to help partners define compatibility. He also offers straight-up traditional wisdom that's often overlooked in the throes of attraction: get to know a potential partner in a variety of circumstances, get rid of partners who project bad vibes or present unpleasant situations. Writing in an amiably paternal, workmanlike style, Hamburg proffers realistic and sensible advice. Agent, Candice Fuhrman. Product Description - According to Buddhism, every human being has the potential to achieve profound and lasting happiness. And according to the tantric teachings of Buddhism, this remarkable transformation can be realized very quickly if we utilize all aspects of our human energy, especially the energy of our desires. Introduction to Tantra is the best available clarification of a subject that is often misunderstood. This new edition of the classic text includes a new foreword by Philip Glass and new cover art, but leaves untouched Lama Yeshe's excellent original text, edited by Jonathan Landaw. Tantra recognizes that the powerful energy aroused by our desire is an indispensable resource for the spiritual path. It is precisely because our lives are so inseparably linked with desire that we must make use of desire's tremendous energy not just for pleasure, but to transform our lives. Lama Yeshe presents tantra as a practice leading to joy and self-discovery, with a vision of reality that is simple, clear, and extremely relevant to 21st-century life.

Tantra: Path of Ecstasy by Georg Feuerstein - Editorial Reviews - Amazon.com Review
Consider for a moment that the Dalai Lama is a tantric adept, and those visions of sexual bliss that the word "tantra" conjures up quickly dissolve. Tantra is more than the sex play of popular articles and books. Georg Feuerstein, authority of the yogic traditions, conjures up a much richer world of Hindu cosmology, philosophy, and theology. Tantra is a form of devotionalism, in which ritual sounds, gestures, and actions figure prominently. Reverence of the guru as god also plays a part, but Feuerstein tempers our suspicion by repeating the admonitions of tantric texts down through the ages to choose carefully. As much prudence must also go into reflection on the disciple's own person, who engages in strict yogic discipline designed to conquer the six enemies: desire, anger, greed, delusion, pride, and envy. Feuerstein draws on the ancient texts to describe the tantric path in great detail, including realization of the subtle body, directing energy through the chakras, and, yes, sex. Taken together, tantra becomes a vivid, multifaceted path to self-realization. --Brian Bruya
From Publishers Weekly - Feuerstein has attempted a daunting task, defining Tantric Yoga drawn from Hindu and not Tibetan Buddhist sources. To do this, he has assembled a wide-ranging compendium of Hindu, Tantric and Shaivite texts almost impossible to find in one place elsewhere. To plunge into this book is to find yourself rushing down the sacred River Ganges through the heart of India. Like a sophisticated travelogue, it brings into sharp focus the rich tapestry of the Indian ecstatic life and the exotic practices of Tantric Yoga that take place, metaphorically, on the banks of this Queen of rivers. The inner eye is challenged with mystical beasts bathing in the waters; holy men daubed in ashes undertaking bizarre and often previously never-before-seen Tantric rituals; the inner ear is filled with the rhythmic, pulsating chant of Om, and all its associated Sanskrit sounds; the senses are awash with meditative visions. It is a passage through Indian spiritual life that may be too sophisticated for the casual tourist, although for those who have passed this way before, it is a comprehensive and provocative commentary on the basic and advanced precepts of Tantric yoga. Written with literate modesty and erudition, this book is an invaluable resource. Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Anytime...for as Long as You Want: Strength, Genius, Libido & Erection by Integrative Sex Transmutation by Charles Runels - Product Description - From once every 2 weeks to every day. Thank you very much! -- Jerry S., Mobile, AL
I gave the CD to my husband. One week later, our intimacy went from a speed bump to Mount Siani. -- June K., Pensacola, Florida
Product Description - This 3-part course (including workbook and 72-minute audio CD) teaches the male student how to have an erection anytime for as long as wanted.
In a simple and workable format, Dr. Runels draws from his experience as physician (having coached hundreds of men in these techniques) and researcher in endocrinology to teach the reader how to not only improve sex but also improve health.
The method taught represents a synergistic mixture of techniques (Integrative Sex Transmutation) drawn from ancient texts (like the Tao of Sexology), philosophers and scientists (like Thoreau and Leonardo da VInci), as well as from modern endocrinology, nutrition, exercise physiology, herbology, and pharmacology.
The CD offers an introduction to the 15-week course, but also gives the woman a tool to gracefully and without offense encourage the man to study this course.
If you follow the workbook as recommended, here's what you'll learn:
Part I gives you a better understanding of what sex transmutation is and how it's been used by great men of the past. You'll hear from Benjamin Franklin, Henry David Thoreau, and others. You'll hear how these men used sex transmutation to improve health, increase intelligence, and find God. You'll hear from Dr. Freud about how Leonardo da Vinci "transmuted sex energy" into genius and inspiration.
You'll also investigate the male sexual response zones. First, the usual diagram is presented. Then, you'll see an expanded diagram that demonstrates new zones which allow you to enjoy orgasm and stimulation for hours at a time. Here's where you'll be introduced to the concept of "sex surfing" in and around the orgasmic zone.
Most men go through their youth and if they discover sex transmutation at all, it's in the latter years after much of the energy of youth has been spent. This book will help you capture that energy.
Practicing "safe sex," (not the focus of this book) like cooking an egg to prevent salmonella, simply means enjoying sex in a way that prevents the development of infectious disease. Practicing sex transmutation is like eating for health and strength with the proper number of calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates--eating (or having sex) in a way that strengthens the whole organism.
Part 2 of the course describes how to increase sexual desire--how to build the sex energy wave and achieve erection anytime at any age. Here you learn step-by-step how to make your body ever ready to respond.
First, you learn the 2000-year-old technique taught in the Chinese Tao of Sexology: the man's cycle (not the same as refractory period). Next, you learn a basic plan for improving health that specifically increases energy and sexual function and creativity. Eating practices, herbs, and supplements that will supercharge your sex drive are all explained. Not a burden of in-depth science to bore you, just the necessary facts and a workable basic plan that you can use for the rest of your life.
Next, Dr. Runels covers the sex hormones and how to know if your doctor's done an adequate job of measuring yours. Then he explores the prescription drugs (like Viagra, Livitra, and Cialis) and how to get the most result with the least trouble and cost. Next, you get a list of libido killers and a discussion of synergy and sex.
Finally, in part 2, you'll learn practical tips (taken from the writings of the inspired and ingenious of the past) about how to transmute sexual energy into intelligence and inspiration. Here's where you'll hear from Leonardo and from Benjamin Franklin.
Part 3 tells how to ride the wave of sexual desire for as long as you want by having sex and maintaining an erection for as long as you want. This section does more than cure premature ejaculation, it allow you to control ejaculation almost like a light in your house where you can turn it on or off at will.
First, in part 3, Dr. Runels reviews why you would want to have sex for a long time. This review includes an introduction to the nine levels of a woman's orgasm. Most women, when they experience orgasm, really only experience the fourth level. Conscious Love: Insights from Mystical Christianity by Richard Smoley - Editorial Review - "Smoley, former editor of the journal Gnosis and author of Inner Christianity and Forbidden Faith, is adept at unknotting the paradoxes of spiritual traditions and making new connections across centuries and languages. In his newest book, he tackles the vexed question of love, which he avers has a unique place at the center of Christian spirituality yet eludes precise classification-as most know, there are at least four words translated as "love" in New Testament Greek alone. Smoley has written that rare book that should exert a strong appeal for Christian and non-Christian readers alike. Highly recommended." - (Library Journal, July 2008)
Product Description - Though love is a perennial topic for writers of all kinds, much of what is written aboutlove is simplistic and unsatisfying. In Conscious Love, Richard Smoley—an expert on the esoteric traditions of mystical Christianity—incorporates insights and wisdom about love from noted thinkers in literature, art, philosophy, sociology, cultural criticism, and even neurology. This remarkable book offers a blueprint for infusing conscious love into human relationships.

Edgar Cayce on Soul Mates: Unlocking the Dynamics of Soul Attraction (Paperback)
by Kevin J. Todeschi - Product Description - Is there really such a thing as soul mates? According to Edgar Cayce, yes. But his definition of "soul mates," "twin souls," and "perfect partners" may differ from what you're expecting. For decades, Cayce provided thousands of individuals with insights into the nature of their personal relationships. What is unique about Todeschi's book is that it explores the development of relationships over time, played out within the framework of reincarnation. In addition to discussing soul mate relationships, their connection to the cyclic pattern of reincarnation, and the nature of loneliness, this books looks at the fundamentals of soul attraction and provides contemporary examples of the same principles discussed by Cayce.
From the Back Cover - Twin souls, soul mates, perfect partners -- are these images of the ideal relationship just fantasy, or do they have some basis in truth? Does everyone have one perfect relationship that is waiting to be found, or is a "perfect" relationship something that grows and develops over time? Questions like these were posed to Edgar Cayce, who gave some surprising answers. For decades, Cayce provided thousands of individuals with insights into the nature of their personal relationships and the dynamics of soul attraction. Edgar Cayce on Soul Mates explores case histories from the Cayce files on soul mates, friendships, and family relationships and examines what universal laws are at work to draw individuals together.
Only Love Is Real: A Story of Soulmates Reunited by Brian Weiss - Editorial Reviews - From Booklist Weiss is the psychiatrist whose best-seller, Many Lives, Many Masters (1988), chronicled the life (and past lives) of one of his patients. Since his breakthrough with Catherine, the hypnotized patient who was able to transmit messages from the beyond as well as recall former lifetimes, Weiss has continued his past-life therapies. Here he threads bits and pieces of what he has learned into the story of Elizabeth and Pedro, two patients who, unbeknownst to Weiss, have lost each other across lifetimes and now have another chance to reconnect. Although the stories of Elizabeth and Pedro form the book's centerpiece, they will probably be the least interesting, at least to the New Age audience, who has heard it all before. Weiss is better when he's explaining the philosophy that incorporates past lives into a therapeutic setting. This isn't the best book on the subject, but Many Lives, Many Masters sold more than a million copies, and Weiss' name, as well as an extensive marketing campaign, is likely to generate demand. Ilene Cooper --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Sacred Marriage by Gary L. Thomas - Product Description - Starting with the discovery that the goal of marriage goes beyond personal happiness, writer and speaker Gary Thomas invites readers to see how God can use marriage as a discipline and a motivation to love him more and reflect more of the character of his Son.
From the Back Cover - Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply.
Scores of books have been written that offer guidance for building the marriage of your dreams. But what if God's primary intent for your marriage isn't to make you happy . . . but holy? And what if your relationship isn't as much about you and your spouse as it is about you and God?
Everything about your marriage--everything--is filled with prophetic potential, with the capacity for discovering and revealing Christ's character. The respect you accord your partner; the forgiveness you humbly seek and graciously extend; the ecstasy, awe, and sheer fun of lovemaking; the history you and your spouse build with one another--in these and other facets of your marriage, Sacred Marriage uncovers the mystery of God's overarching purpose.
This book may very well alter profoundly the contours of your marriage. It will most certainly change you. Because whether it is delightful or difficult, your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God, and to a spiritual integrity that, like salt, seasons the world around you with the savor of Christ.
Spiritual Marriage by Dyan Elliot - Editorial Reviews - A penetrating study for a wide scholarly audience on the place of women, marriage, and sexuality in Christianity from Augustine to the Renaissance. . . . Using spiritual marriage as a prism, Elliott is able to examine the themes of sacramental theology, female spirituality, sin, sexuality, and gender relations. -- Review
Elliot masterfully examines why female spirituality was perceived as a threat to the church and society at large. Choice
Review - [Dyan Elliott] reveals the deep tensions and ambiguities about sexuality and marriage in the Christian church as attitudes evolved from apostolic times to the sixteenth century. . . . I loved this book for its magnificent scholarship, clarity of expression, provocative ideas, and scholarly modesty.
(Penelope D. Johnson American Historical Review)
This is a singular accomplishment. I am not only rapt with admiration at Dyan Elliott's achievement but greatly in her debt for the contribution she makes to our understanding of the Christian sexual tradition.
(n Boswell, Yale University)
A penetrating study for a wide scholarly audience on the place of women, marriage, and sexuality in Christianity from Augustine to the Renaissance. . . . Using spiritual marriage as a prism, Elliott is able to examine the themes of sacramental theology, female spirituality, sin, sexuality, and gender relations.
(Philip F. Riley History)
Elliot masterfully examines why female spirituality was perceived as a threat to the church and society at large, challenging the boundaries of sanctity and heresy. . . . By tracing the downward trajectory of holy women through medieval society's progressive reliance on inquisitional procedure, Elliot argues that inquisitional mechanisms for assessing female spirituality created confusion between the saintly and the heretical; these efforts to constrain female spirituality were part of a larger program of constraining women.

The Book of Secrets: Keys to Love and Meditation by Osho - Editorial Reviews - "These techniques will not mention any religious ritual. No temple is needed, you are quite enough of a temple yourself. You are the lab; the whole experiment is to go on within you. This is not religion, this is science. No belief is needed. Only a daringness to experiment is enough; courage to experiment is enough.
These 112 methods are for the whole of humanity-for all the ages that have passed, and for all the ages that have yet to come. I will go on describing each method from as many angles as possible. If you feel any affinity with it, play with it for three days. If you feel that it fits, that something clicks in you, continue it for three months.
Life is a miracle. If you have not known its mystery, that only shows that you do not know the technique for how to approach it." --Osho

The Tao of Sexology: The Book of Infinite Wisdom by Stephen Thomas Chang - Customer Review - An eye-opening book about the spirituality of sex, December 4, 1998 - It's an incredible book about human sexuality - not mere sex. It talks about the OTHER 95% of our sexual energy - the life force, the creative power we have within us. It is easy to read and a delight doing so. I finished it in one eye-opening night! --By A Customer
Taoist Secrets of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy by Mantak Chia - Product Description - Hidden for centuries, the esoteric techniques and principles presented here make the process of linking sexual energy and transcendent states of consciousness accessible to the reader.
Taoist Yoga and Sexual Energy; Internal Alchemy and Chi Kung by Eric Yudelove and Eric Steven Yudelove - Product Description - When most people think of the term yoga, they think of the body-stretching techniques from India. But there are many different forms of yoga, including techniques practiced in secret by the Taoist masters in the Far East. Some of the most important, yet previously secret techniques of Taoist Alchemy and Sexual Kung Fu are revealed for the first time by Taoist Master Eric Steven Yudelove in Taoist Yoga and Sexual Energy.
This is not just a book, it is an entire, fourteen-week course in alchemy, healing, and magick. Perhaps the most important part of this is learning how to manipulate the body's mysterious energies. In order to do this you will learn many breathing techniques, including hair breathing, reverse breathing, bone marrow breathing, and several more. You'll learn the amazing secrets of Chi Gung, including standing, sitting, lying, and moving forms.
In the West, most people think of sounds as merely being music or, when put together in words, a way to communicate. But here you will learn that there are six special healing sounds. Each is associated with a body organ (or, more accurately, the functioning of that organ which may involve other part of the body) and five of them are associated with a color and element. If you don't know, the Taoist elements are different from the Western elements and consist of earth, fire, water, wood, and metal.
These healing sounds are very simple. They are: S-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s, Ch-u-w-a-a-y, Sh-h-h-h-h-h, H-a-w-w-w-w, Wh-o-o-o-o and H-e-e-e-e. The proper way to use them for healing yourself is clearly explained in Taoist Yoga and Sexual Energy.
As the title of the book shows, this book is also about working with the sexual energy. You will learn breathing techniques, visualizations, and massage methods that will allow you and your partner to experience bliss beyond your wildest imagination!
Now is the time for you to investigate improving your life. This book can lead the way.
From the Publisher - For decades, Llewellyn has been one of the leading publishers of books on Western Spirituality. But as phones get cheaper to use, as fax machines and e-mail proliferate, the world becomes smaller and smaller. In the past, some occultists have suggested that you might best evolve within the major spiritual paradigm of the area of your birth. I think it is time to move beyond that, don't you? As Marshall McLuhan suggested, we now live in a "global village." I believe it is time to start thinking in terms of universal spirituality instead of limiting ourselves.
Even the Golden Dawn used ideas taken from the East. You can follow their example far more easily thanks to books such as Eric Steven Yudelove's Taoist Yoga and Sexual Energy. This is one of the clearest and most explicit descriptions of Taoist magical practices I've ever seen. The author, recognized as a Taoist Master by his teacher of 20 years, Mantak Chia, presents an entire system of working with the body's natural energies so that you can accomplish just about anything.
Perhaps learning how to move the energy is the most important aspect of this book. Here it is clearly explained, using over 130 illustrations so that you can more easily learn the specialized methods of breath, visualization, and physical positions. You will also learn healing techniques that you can use on yourself or share with others.
And working with a particular partner is where this book really shines. For the secrets of Taoist Sexual Kung Fu are very comparable to the innermost secrets of Tantra. You will learn how to arouse the sexual energy; direct it in yourself and your partner; spiritualize it; and then bathe yourself in it. This leads to states of mystical and sexual bliss that will take you far beyond anything you have done before.
If you have not looked at Eastern spirituality before, this book can introduce it to you. If you are familiar with Taoism, this book is a must!
